WELCOME TO THE WALLSEND LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY WEBSITE .

The aims of our Society are to bring together all those who

are interested in Local History and in particular the history

of Wallsend; to record information about the town and share

 it with others through meetings, archives, books, talks, local

history trails, trips, exhibitions and the internet.

We meet every month [except January & August], 7:00pm-9:00pm, with a Speaker [see Speaker’s List on the Home Page] & refreshments, at St Lukes Church Hall, Frank Street, Wallsend. NE28 6RN

Membership Fees – £15.00 / year.

Visitor Fees £4.00 / evening meeting

We celebrated our 50th Anniversary in October 2023 and hosted a series of events to showcase our extensive archive material at Wallsend Library, Wallsend Festival, and St Peter’s Church Open Days to date.

We also held an exhibition of our various archive memorabilia at St Peter’s Church in September as part of Wallsend Heritage open Day.

Following this event we held a Wallsend Local History 50th Celebration Dinner which was be held at The Masonic Hall on Station Road, Wallsend on Saturday 30th September.

We subsequently held an Exhibition of our Archives at Wallsend Library, in October 2023.

We have compiled a book recording the last 25 years of the Society, which is available for sale via contact with the Society Secretary, for £5:00.

‘Monday 25 March 2024 – We will be providing a display of a sample of our Archive material In the Wallsend Library as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations.’

‘Tuesday 26 March 2024 – Wallsend Shops Talk by Steve Allerdice at 14:00 in the Wallsend Library.’

‘1-6 July 2024 – We will be providing Displays and Talks in support of the Wallsend History Week by North Tyneside Council’.
